“-One of my favorite DA moments was certainly when I got to perform the piece that Dinuk Wijeratne had written for me in front of him for the first time. Dinuk hadn’t been able to attend the Halifax concert so he came to hear me in Wolfville, in the beautiful setting of Acadia University. It’s a great memory on many accounts – it was a beautiful day also – but made more special by the fact that Dinuk, whom I had gotten to know when we were students at Juilliard, is now also a DA alumn, and that his career has taken off in such a spectacular way.
-At the beginning of a tour with the first incarnation of Triple Forte, then comprised of myself, Jasper Wood and Denise Djokic, I recall what must have been one of the craziest days of my life when a flight snafu threw our rehearsal plans upside down. It meant that we suddenly had only one panicked, demented rehearsal to put the musical Rubik Cube that is the Ives Trio together before the first concert, when none of us had ever played it. People who know the piece a little can surely appreciated what a challenge that was… I won’t even mention the Beethoven and Brahms pieces that were also involved, since they suddenly seemed like grade 5 RCM level by comparison! For one day anyway.”
