“I was playing a CBC broadcast recital in Halifax with Bob Koenig and there was a terrible blizzard that day! I could barely see or find the church where we were performing and even after I found it, I could not drive up the road because it was covered in about 5 feet of snow already…so I got my violin & dress out of the car and walked the last 500m in the blizzard and arrived barely in time for the concert, freezing cold and wet! We nearly cancelled because we had only 7 people in the audience who made it but since it was a live CBC broadcast so we played the concert for the radio and those 7 people…we encouraged them to sound like 500 and boy did they ever cheer loudly!! Was one of the most fun concerts ever actually…and we have the recording of it still. 😉 I attach one solo I played (Ysaye solo sonata no.6). The rest of the tour was smooth sailing in comparison and Bob and I fondly remember Newfoundland, Labrador and the beautiful charming communities on the Atlantic coast that we would rarely have a chance to visit. I really enjoyed my Debut Atlantic tour…it gave me a reason to fall in love with Canada again…we have a beautiful country, culture and people. I am honoured to celebrate and be a part of it, and bring that Canadian spirit with me everywhere I go!! ;)”
