On y va! Montreal Group Trio Canoë Kick off Debut Atlantic Season
HALIFAX, NS – ‘Refreshing’ and ‘Exciting’ are words often used to describe clarinetist Jean-Francois Normand, violist Marina Thibeault and pianist Philip Chiu who gather in this compelling formation to create Trio Canoë (Kan-oh). Beginning on September 16th, this fantastic ensemble heads to Atlantic Canada to embark on a tour of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Featuring two unique programs, their performances will highlight the poetic, intimate, and mysterious nature of their instruments. “Hommage à Schumann” will highlight works by both Schumann and of his admirers. A diverse presentation, this emotional journey will touch on different aspects of this great composer’s life. Their alternate program is a boundary-pushing collection of works showcasing composers from Astor Piazzolla to Canadian Marjan Mozetich!
Trio Canoë will begin the tour in Moncton on Friday, September 16th at 7:30pm at First Church of the Nazarene performing for the Moncton Community Concert Association. They then appear for the Antigonish Performing Arts Series on Saturday, September 17th at 8:00pm at Immaculata Hall, St. F.X.
