CANADA’S UNRIVALED  PROFESSIONAL RECORDER QUARTET TOURS ATLANTIC CANADA!

 

HALIFAX, NS – Dynamic and versatile, the Montreal-based ensemble Flûte Alors! will embark on an extensive Debut Atlantic tour of the Atlantic region from March 15^th – 30^th, 2014. This exciting group is comprised  of four new-generation recorder players dedicated to pushing the limits of their instruments, and  expanding the recorder repertoire.

 

Flûte Alors!’ performances encompass music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, as well as contemporary, jazz, and pop works. The ensemble often collaborates with  performers from diverse musical backgrounds and in addition to creating their own arrangements, frequently commissions works for recorder ensemble.

 

The ensemble has been recognized with  prizes and nominations at the national and international level, including first prize in chamber music at the National Music Festival in 2009. Their first album, Kaléidoscope, was released in 2011 and continues to garner praise  nationwide.

 

In addition to the roster of concerts, Flûtes Alors! will be working with music students from grade primary  to the post-secondary level and will also participate in  a videoconference session hosted by Newfoundland’s Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI). This workshop will  take place at 11:30AM AST on Wednesday March 19^thand will be broadcast live on the internet.

One of the most respected music touring organizations in the country, Debut Atlantic’s first season in 1979 featured then-emerging and still-unknown artists, pianist Jon Kimura Parker, tenor Ben Heppner, and Canada’s Baroque orchestra Tafelmusik.
