TD Connected Concerts Classical Showcase at ECMAs
(Halifax/K’jipuktuk, NS) On Saturday, May 6th, the Canadian Music Centre and Debut Atlantic will celebrate East Coast classical music with a showcase of remarkable East Coast talent at Paul O’Regan Hall, Halifax Central Library. The event will be hosted by Allegra Swanson, Executive Director of Music Nova Scotia. This free concert will include works by ECMA nominated CMC Associate and East Coast composers, performed by the following artists:
- Soprano Christina Raphaëlle Haldane & pianist Carl Philippe Gionet
- Pianist Jennifer King, (nominated for Classical Recording of the Year for O Mistress Moon)
- Atlantic String Machine (nominated for Classical Recording of the Year for A Single Juniper Post)
- Multi-instrumentalist/composer Grej & soprano Maureen Batt (nominated for Classical Composition of the Year for Lighthouse)
- Pianist Sarah Hagen
- SHHH!! Ensemble (nominated for Classical Recording of the Year for Meanwhile)
- Composer Andrew Staniland & harpist Michelle Gott
- Cellist India Gailey & pianist Edward Enman (nominated for Classical Composition of the Year for Breath In, Breathe Out)
- Soprano Deantha Edmunds with Blue Engine String Quartet
Winners for Classical Recording of the Year, Classical Composition of the Year and the inaugural Choral Recording of the Year will be announced during the Showcase Concert.

About CMC Atlantic
Established in 1989, the Atlantic Regional Office first opened on the campus of Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB. In 2015, it was relocated in Halifax in collaboration with Dalhousie University. CMC Atlantic promotes the compositions of over 60 Atlantic composers, produces the Classical Showcase with the East Coast Music Awards and works with local music organizations to promote Canadian composers and Canadian music.
