Debut Atlantic Welcomes New Board Members Kelly Galbraith and Conrad Chow
HALIFAX, NS – Debut Atlantic is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the Board of Directors. The Board provides leadership for carrying out Debut Atlantic’s mission to support and facilitate access to innovative, diverse classical and world music performances by Canadian artists through concerts, education, and outreach across Atlantic Canada.
Kelly Galbraith is the Music Director of the Saint John Men’s Chorus, and a National Producer for CBC Music. She is also the founder and Artistic Director of Cantores Celestes Women’s Choir and has led an unauditioned mixed chorus of over 100 voices for Manulife Financial for over 29 years. She continues to work as a CBC Music Producer on special projects from Saint John, NB and creates programming that is heard across the Radio Two Network and Digital Music Streams.
Canadian Violinist Conrad Chow has forged a multifaceted career across two decades, distinctive in the Arts industry as both a leading educator and compelling performer. He currently teaches on the faculty of the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists, at The Royal Conservatory of Music, Canada, and is also Adjunct Professor of Violin and String Pedagogy at the University of Toronto. He has appeared on the juries of various national and international competitions, including recently at the Kocian International Violin Competition, Czech Republic.
Please help us welcome Kelly Galbraith and Conrad Chow!
We are also delighted and grateful to have Akiko Tominaga, Darcy Campbell, and Michelle Wood step into new positions on our Executive Committee. Akiko will serve as the new Chair of the Board of Directors, with Darcy Campbell serving as Vice Chair, and Michelle Wood continuing as Treasurer.
Debut Atlantic also bids farewell to two extraordinary Board members, Julien LeBlanc and Marcia Swanston. Julien has truly been a guiding light for Debut, stepping into the role of Chair in 2018, and helping the organization traverse through the pandemic. His relationship with Debut started as a touring artist in 2008/09 and 2014/15, eventually leading to our Board, where he was a member for six years – lending us his extensive experience and passion for classical music.
Marcia Swanston is not only an incredible artist, but has been an irreplaceable voice on our Board for the past six years. As Head of the Selection Committee, she has guided our organization’s curatorial selection and helped us support emerging artists across Canada.
We extend our most sincere thanks to Julien and Marcia, and will never forget their guidance, work, and insight into further developing our organization. Thank you!
